　　With the opening up of the economy and the rise of China in the 1990s, there was a growing need for a top brand to pioneer China’s leisure industry. Back in 1994, Mission Hills Group’s founder, Dr. David Chu, advocated in the CPPCC that sports should move towards marketization and industrialization. In 2002, he once again advocated the development of a brand new leisure industry in China, and actively developed this concept through large-scale investments.

　　Since its foundation in 1992, Mission Hills Group has skillfully leveraged China's economic reform. It selected over 20 sq km of wasteland between Shenzhen and Dongguan to launch its prestigious business and created Mission Hills International Resort and Mission Hills Golf Club, the only golf club featuring styles from the world’s five continents, from among 50,000 golf clubs globally. The club has 12 international-class courses with 216 holes, and is recognized by Guinness World Records as "The World's Largest Golf Club". The "World's No.1 Golf Club" offers a wide range of first-class facilities for golfers and non-golfers alike. It has evolved into a world-class leisure and business destination that includes Asia's largest tennis centre with 51 courts, four international clubhouses, numerous prestigious international hotels, the new Mission Hills Centreville complex, large-scale international conference centers, award-winning spas, golf and tennis academies, eco-recreation parks and a wealth of business, dining, sports and leisure facilities, as well as international eco high-class settlements. Mission Hills Shenzhen and Dongguan clubs have successively won gold medals as an International Garden-styled Community, which is recognized globally as the "Green Oscar" award, and world golf tourism’s highest honor, “The World's Best Golf Tourist Resort”, issued by the International Golf Travel Association. It is also named as the National 5A Scenic Spot, the highest tourist attraction honor in China, and has been listed in the first batch of China’s eco-tourism demonstration areas.

　　After developing its Shenzhen and Dongguan resorts, Mission Hills Group crossed the Qiongzhou Strait off China’s southern coast and expanded its business to the country’s only tropical island – Hainan. Over the volcanic lava stone landscape in Haikou City, the group successfully developed Mission Hills Haikou Resort. This ambitious development project fits China’s national strategy of developing Hainan into an “International Tourism Island”. The resort is now a major leisure industry destination covering a range of sports, tournaments, health care, wellness, culture, entertainment, business, exhibition, training and residences. It is the world's largest public golf facility (with 10 spectacular courses) and also features Mission Hills • Huayi Brothers • Feng Xiaogang Movie-Themed Town, Mission Hills • Haikou Centreville, Mission Hills • Lan Kwai Fong entertainment hotspot and international shopping center, Renaissance Hotel, Ritz-Carlton and the Hardrock Hotel, and many other high-end facilities, making it an outstanding new tourist and leisure landmark in Haikou. Furthermore, Mission Hills also has also invested in multiple projects in Yunnan, Chongqing and Guangxi.

　　早在1995年，观澜湖即为中国首次承办了有“高尔夫奥林匹克”之称的高尔夫世界杯比赛；2001年邀请世界最佳运动员泰格·伍兹首访中国；从2007年开始，观澜湖集团取得了连续多届高尔夫世界杯的举办权；从2010年开始，创办了两年一届的观澜湖世界明星赛；从2012年开始，连续三年举办世界女子高尔夫锦标赛。观澜湖成功举办的大型赛事还包括2012年世界高尔夫锦标赛——汇丰冠军赛，2013年老虎伍兹VS麦克罗伊世界第一挑战赛。

　　In 1995, Mission Hills held the 41st World Cup of Golf. It was China's first globally significant golf championship and was broadcast across the country. In 2001, Mission Hills invited the world's No.1 golfer Tiger Woods, to visit China for the first time. Since 2010, the club has established the groundbreaking biennial Mission Hills World Celebrity Pro-Am tournament. Mission Hills has also hosted the World Ladies Championship since 2012. Other recent high-profile tournaments include the 2012 WGC-HSBC Champions and the famous duel between Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy – “The Match at Mission Hills” – in 2013.

　　For the highly successful Beijing Olympics that China staged in 2008, Mission Hills Group and its founder Dr. David Chu actively participated in preparing the city’s bid and made outstanding contributions in ensuring it was chosen.
