Player profile
Thailand’s Thongchai Jaidee is indisputably Asia’s number 1 golfer. On course for his third Order of Merit title, Jaidee defended his title in the Carlsberg Malaysian Open recently and has climbed to a top 50 place on the World Golf Ranking chart.
A trained army paratrooper and a soccer fanatic, Jaidee only picked up golf while recuperating from a foot injury sustained during a soccer match. He made his European Tour breakthrough last year by winning the Carlsberg Malaysian Open in Kuala Lumpur, becoming the first from Thailand to do so. He was also the first Thai to play in a major championship when he competed in all four rounds of the 2001 US Open. Jaidee represents Asia’s strongest challenge to the European stars at Yalong Bay.
